Our Location

Invercargill is also the gateway to Southland from the spectacular Southern coastline of New Zealand and via the southern scenic route to the majestic tranquillity of Fiordland's Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound.

Explore Southland’s key attractions such as Stewart Island, New Zealand's new national park, the Catlins, and the Southern Scenic Route, New Zealand’s most diverse touring route. Bluff, a 20 minute drive south from Invercargill is famous worldwide for its oysters, the signpost at the end of Highway One and its port. Here you can catch a ferry to Stewart Island.

Southland Museum & Art Gallery

Located in Gala Street, Invercargill, this is Southland's largest cultural and heritage institution and contains a wide variety of the regions art, history and natural history collections.

What to see: Observatory, Tuataras, galleries and some wonderful art.  Invercargill's  iSite is also situated in the museum.

Oreti Beach 

10 kilometres from the city of Invercargill, Oreti Beach is the central bay of three lying on the Foveaux Strait coast of Southland. It is 26 kilometres long, it is very accessible to drive on to.  This is the site where Burt Munro practiced riding the Indian Motorbike with which he went to break records at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah.

Stadium Southland

ILT Stadium Southland is a world class and multipurpose venue, capable of conducting a wide range of event modes from sporting events to conferences, exhibitions and large scale concerts.  Ideally located in the heart of Surrey Park sports centre, ILT Stadium Southland is just 10 minutes from Invercargill airport and 5 minutes from the city centre shops, restaurants and cafes. Stadium Southland is a 20 minute walk from Bella Vista Invercargill.

Queens Park

Harking back to Victorian times where every city could boast a large park with avenues of trees, a band rotunda, exotic animals, an aviary - Queen's Park delivers in every sense and is a must visit. A terrific children's playground and a cafe for a hot drink, snacks or lunch is also within the extensive grounds.
