10 kilometres from the city of Invercargill, Oreti Beach is the central bay of three lying on the Foveaux Strait coast of Southland. It is 26 kilometres long, it is very accessible to drive on to. This is the site where Burt Munro practiced riding the Indian Motorbike with which he went to break records at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah.

E Hayes family business and history is also extremely enlightening. This shop must be seen to be believed, something for everyone, world known. Allow some time as there isn't another hardware store like it!
