Only a 10-minute walk from Parliament Buildings you can visit the childhood home of New Zealand’s most famous author, Katherine Mansfield. The home has been lovingly restored and you can view items that belonged to her and the family.

City to Sea Walkway

A fantastic walk that starts in central Wellington (near Parliament) and heads 12km out to Island Bay. The walk generally takes about 6−7 hours and can be done in direction, catch the Number 1 bus out to Island Bay and walk back towards the city if you have no car.

Island Bay

Located on the Wellington’s South Coast, Island Bay is a lovely community where you can stroll around the village, enjoy the shops, cafes, hit the beach for a swim and snorkel around the rocks to spot some marine life.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Located on the Kapati coastline and steeped in history, Queen Elizabeth Park consists of  650 hectares edged by a sandy beach. There is so much to do in this beautiful area: swimming, fishing, walking, cycling, you name it.

The Interislander

The Interislander is the Cook Strait Ferry from Wellington & Picton crossing between the North & South Islands of New Zealand. Being only a 12 minute drive from the terminal, let Bella Vista be your port of call for your journey north or south.
