OUR STORY
Introducing your New Plymouth hosts, Rachel & Jim
Rachel is born & bred in Taranaki, while Jim moved to the province when he was 12 years old. We share this property with our daughter and we all look forward to welcoming you.
Rachel started at Bella Vista New Plymouth as a cleaner & worked her way up to take over management in September 2020. Jim joins us after an extensive time in trade sales at a local building supplies company.
New Plymouth, Taranaki - Your Destination
We are both extremely proud and passionate about New Plymouth and the surrounding Taranaki region. Taranaki is unique in regards to our proximity to the coastline and to Mount Taranaki. It is often remarked that you could climb the mountain in the morning and have surf in the afternoon. This diverse landscape is one of the things that we love about the place. We also have a number of events & festivals on during the year that makes Taranaki an exciting destination to visit. Whether its our Americarna Festival, WOMAD, Garden Festival or the amazing Festival of the Lights summer program, there is always something on that will appeal to a wide variety of people & tastes.
Our Community Involvement
- We hire staff locally & also offer students from New Plymouth Girls High school to have their often first taste of entering the workforce.
- We donate old bedding & linen to our local SPCA.
- We are members of Hospitality New Zealand.
- We are part of the CBD Neighbourhood Watch which allows central businesses to share information to NZ Police when required.
- We have a commitment to support local businesses in regards to purchasing.
Our Sustainability Practices
We are members of the Bella Vista Sustainability Committee who are in charge of driving environment change to Bella Vista Accommodation Nationwide. We have a goal for the Bella Vista brand to be carbon neutral by 2050. We have listed some of our achievements specific to New Plymouth Bella Vista below.
- We buy local to reduce transport emissions
- We encourage towel reuse which means you are reducing energy and water use. Hang your towels on the towel rail if you wish to reuse them or place your towels on the floor if you wish them to be laundered.
- We provide the opportunity to recycle all waste.
- We recycle soft plastic, glass & general recycling to reduce our landfill space by as much as possible.
- We record, measure, create action plans & evaluate changes to our waste to continuously improve our waste reduction.
